Overview

The Sail Time app have four preconfigured timers and one customisable.  The timers are:

  • ISAF – signals at 5, 4 and 1 minute before starting signal
  • 3-2-1-Start – signals at 3, 2 and 1 minute before starting signal
  • Match Race – signals at  10, 6, 5, 4, 2 and 1 minute before starting signal
  • Fix Time Start – signals at 5, 4 and 1 minute before starting signal
  • Custom

ISAF and Match Race follow ISAF sailing rules 26 and C3.1 when starting a race.

All timers will give a 30 seconds warning and beep every second the last 10 seconds. The screen shows actual starting time, burn time and time of day (red at the bottom of the screen). To make it easy to change apps during an activity, the app will “remember” all settings when leaving the app so it will start were you left it when restarted. Please note that alarms will only sound if the app is active.

You exit the app by bringing the menu forward and select Exit at the bottom of the menu.

Q5 SetSignal 2

Navigating the app

Timer starts/stops when pressing the start/stop button (upper right on most devices), On the Vívoactive 3 the timer starts when the button i pressed. If the start/stop stop button is pressed a third time the timer will reset to the first signal.

A re-sync is achieved by pressing the back button (lower right on most devices) or by swiping right on a touch screen. Re-sync behaviour depends on the state of the timer:

  • If timer is running and the button is pressed within a defined number of seconds (Resync Gap setting)  before or after the signal the timer will sync at the signal and continue to run.
  • If the back button is pressed outside of the defined Resync Gap setting or if the timer is stopped, the timer will step to the next signal and wait for the start/stop button to be pressed.
  • If Resync Gap is set to 0, the timer will step to next signal and pause.

Pressing the back button after race has started will pause the timer until the button is pressed again.

When selecting Fix Time Start the app will ask for the time when the race starts. Time is set by pressing the up/down buttons and confirming the setting with the start/stop button. On a touch screen device, swiping up or down will step the time. Side swipe also steps the time. Tapping the the screen will confirm the setting.

Custom Timer

Before using the custom timer it has to be configured. At least one signal is required. When setting the signals it is not required to add them in the right order – the app will sort them. Up to 10 signals is allowed. The timer is configured by

  1. Activating the menu and selecting Settings
  2. Edit signals
  3. Select a signal using the up/down buttons or by swiping up or down on the screen och side swipe. If you have a touch screen you make the selection by swiping left and tapping the tick mark.
  4. Set time before starting signal using up/down buttons and confirm by pressing the start/stop button. On devices with side swipe or touch screens swipe up or down to set the timer, confirm by tapping the screen.

No need to set any signals at 30 and 10 seconds before start. The app has them  by default.

To remove a signal, just set it to 00:00:00. Reset menu item will clear all signals.
